  • Exposure settings in Vantage

    Hi all.
This is my issue ( maybe I do something wrong )
I create a simple animation in 3ds max. I setup camera ( 100 ISO and 200 speed and f8 aperture as settings ) and use a Vray Sun as light source. When I check in the Vray buffer the image seems ok. I open live link and connect to Vantage. I press the button to create animation form 3ds max and start rendering. The created animation is darker than the original settings which I can see either in the Vray buffer or the vantage preview. Even if I change my exposure settings inside VAntage I get always the same result....an image or animation that is darker as exposure confronted to my settings. I have Vantage 2.2. Maybe I do something wrong in my settings in 3ds max or Vantage.
    Any suggestions ?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi michaela_voutsela,

Does this happen in a previous version of Vantage or only in 2.2.0? Do you output the image to EXR or png/jpeg? Can you also send a screen recording?

    Best regards,

      Hi Alexander.
      Thanx for the quick answer.
If it helps I have an education license
      in the attached images :
      1) a1_image : these are my camera settings and the rendered image with Vray GPU in the Vray Frame Buffer
      2) I initiate the "Live link to Vray Vantage" - as you can see in image "a2_image" and the preview is grosso modo the same.
      3) I do not change anything and I press the button " Render animation with Vray Vantage " and I' ve got this message you see in " a3_image"...I click next ( with previous version i did not had this red message )
      4) the result i Get is like " image " a4_image"......so i try to correct inside Vantage exposure etc like you see in Image " a5_image" but i get the result of "a6_image".
Generally i cannot get the result i See on the screen in Vantage.
My specs are the following ( maybe is because of them the issue ) :
      i7 10th gen cpu
      64 Gb ram
Nvidia RTX Quadro 4000 with 8 Gb Ram ( GPU )
      Hope I helped .... ( i attache the a6_image in a 2nd reply )
      Thank you again

It seems that the difference between image a5 and a6 is because of auto-exposure. There is a checkbox for it in the render dialog and a *separate* setting for interactive rendering, in the top toolbar. Apart from this, there may be differences because of color corrections such as the filmic tonemap. Try disabling all post-processing.
