Hi, thanks for posting. We have object mask and material mask - https://docs.chaos.com/display/LAV/R...RenderElements

    Mask
Object Mask 8bit 16bit The object ID. Randomly assigned object IDs at initial load of scene.
Material Mask 8bit 16bit The material ID of the object. Randomly assigned material IDs at initial load of scene.
We will see if we can create a report especially for the MultiMatteElement so it could possibly be implemented in a similar fashion as in 3ds Max.

Yes, and they work great for some things. However, when I want to mask my iToo grass, each clump has its colors.

Hi and thanks for the question.
We have done some work on the Multi matte but it got delayed by some issues. Could you provide feedback on some points when setting the Multi matte up - would it work setting it up in Vantage, or would you expect any already set up Multi matte render elements in 3ds Max to come across ready for rendering?

Like I said above, when I use either of the current options, my Forest grass comes in multi-color, so I can't select by color to get my grass.

This is what I use from GPU or CPU. In Vantage, the grass is multicolor.

I see. However, that doesn't answer if you would set the MutliMatte up in 3ds Max or in Vantage. I'd like to know that, since it does make a difference in the implementation effort and respectively how soon we could add it. So basically I see two possible workflows:
              1. Set the masks in 3ds Max and in Vantage the MM render elements are automatically generated and rendered as expected. In this mode no editing will be allowed within the Vantage UI
              2. Discard the render elements in 3ds Max and provide Vantage UI for setting up the masks based on objects or materials.
Let me know which would be the more useful option please.

I think number 2, as long as they can be saved within the .vantage file.

When it comes to Vantage I am working primarily with live-link so anything that carries over from 3ds-Max is helpful. I'd be interested to know how many people use live link and how many import their scene into Vantage.

Anyway I guess what I'm saying is my vote is also Home
