  • Animating the sun for solar studies

What's the workflow? Do I need to create a daylight system in MAX and add a vray sky and link it to the daylight system or can I set this up in Vantage without a vray sky/sun set up in MAX?

    Hi Luma3d,

You do not need a daylight system in Max for solar studies, you can do this directly inside Vantage. You can do the following:
    1. Set the Sun position mode of the Sun to Animated Geolocation. This will automatically enable the Sun animation track in the animation editor with default duration which can be later modified.
    2. Set your North offset, Geo coordinates, Day/Month/Year, Time zone and Daylight saving time according to your project.
    3. Set the starting hour for your solar study and click on the Set start key button. This will store the initial position.
    4. Set again the Hour/Minutes property for the end of the study and click on the Set end key button.
    5. Play the animation and the sun should be animated.
    6. Additionally you can add animation for the clouds which can be controlled form the Wind intensity and Wind directionality properties.
Check the short video of the mentioned workflow here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lTL...usp=drive_link

    Best regards,
    Alexander
