Just saw their Instagram post. I get what Envision is. It's so they can take the D5, Twinmotion, Lumion user marketing. Got it. Double dipping. Just to what Autodesk does. Buy out the competitors. Lol
Looks like an updated Vantage to me, although the blurb about the robust scene integration has me head scratching, how is that possibly any different than Vantage.. Looks like Vantage with Anima in-built plus a few tricks like Twinmotion etc?
Envision is focused on architectural visualization workflows coming from CAD/BIM tools (e.g., Revit, SketchUp, Rhino), supplying what isn't possible there, and delivering final results. This allows Vantage to focus on DCC workflows, (e.g., 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema4D) which now includes pre-visualization and virtual production. In doing so, Envision will focus on being the ideal companion to Enscape while Vantage focuses on being the same for V-Ray and now Corona. While they use the same underlying renderer, you will see them gain different capabilities over time as Envision focuses on Design and Vantage on M&E.
You can expect Vantage to get all the better in working within the DCC tools and their pipelines.
What would you be hoping to gain in having it as a traditional plugin?
Lol... it's geared towards designers who want to do what vis peeps do now with Max. Funny that most vis artist that do architectural visualization use models that come from the mentioned applications. Now designers and architects will do it themselves. Interesting to see how this will affect the amount of requests arch vis peeps get.
Envision isn't inventing a new category - we just think that Chaos can produce a better solution then those based on game engines.
In doing so, we think it will strengthen the opportunities for archviz specialists because you're workflow is already part of the Chaos ecosystem which will soon include Envision.
Is it fair to say that people who have already been paying and using Vantage, is not expected to becoming Envision users?
I would have thought that a fairer way to approach this would be having Vantage gains all Envision's capabilities, and Envision becomes a striped down version of Vantage (and cheaper).

less friction and efficiency.
I’m hoping Vantage can be what VRay RT started and tried to be.
it’s hard to imagine you can achieve the level of scene manipulation/management of traditional DCC with Vantage.
with Envision around the corner it seems that Vantage can naturally become a plugin. even if only for Maya/Max.

With Live Link, it pretty much is like a plugin in my opinion. I've never used it as a stand alone piece of software.
I agree though, Vantage has the potential to take over from RT, however getting production level animations (flicker free) should be high on Chaos' development list.

separate app model was probably quite helpful during development of Vantage. lean and quick to iterate. I get that. but we'll have Vantage 3 soon. essentials are most likely nailed down.
I'm interested in rendering engine, not another app that can not even benefit from maxscript based render output management tool I've been using in Max for more than 12 years. targeting media and entertainment users without simple render farm support? come on.

Ohh I agree with you on the render manager, we should be able to stack renders in the same way we do with Backburner, Deadline, etc
