  • Vantage v2.6.0 Crash

    Hey everyone,

I just downloaded the new version of Vantage, and right from the start, I’m having an issue with crashes when trying to use the "Open scene as config only" option.

I have the same problem, whether I create a new one or use the old one, the error will be the same

There’s also an issue with the "vertical tilt" through LiveLink. In Max, we see the vertical tilt activated, but in Vantage, it doesn’t update.

The vertical tilt issue is happening in 2.5.2 also.

I have an odd thing, one object is invisible, a large building in this case, always been visible before, I downgrade back and it's fine. Go figure!

              Hi all,

Thank you for reporting this and sorry for the inconvenience. We are looking into it and will release a hotfix soon. For the time being if you are using the Open scene as config only option I would suggest to downgrade to the previous 2.5.2 version until we manage to fix this.

Can you send a scene if this only reproduces in 2.6 for us to investigate?

              Best regards,

Sure thing Alexander.Atanasov, I'll just send the building on it's own, will send in the next two hours. Hope that is enough.

                Best regards,

                Jason

                          Hi Jason,

As far as I could test the building is visible on my end regardless of version. However I think it could be a problem with opacity as I saw the material for the building was set to use VRayColor for opacity. We had a bug with the opacity that didn't work properly with texture alpha. However this shouldn't be the case in your scene and I couldn't find why it wouldn't show in 2.6 but renders fine in 2.5.2. Can you update to 2.6.1 and try on your end? Here is how it looks on my end:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ls5...usp=drive_link

                          Best regards,
                          Alexander

                            Hi Alexander.Atanasov,

Yes I thought it could be the VrayColor but I kind of need that map in there just to lighten the building, I believe the other method to quickly give the building some opacity is using 0.5 visibility in the object but this doesn't work either. I also wanted to avoid using refractions unnecessarily. I can get it working with 2.5.2, I found 2.6 & 2.6.1 doesn't work.

                            Thanks,

                              Hi Jason,

I guess you have enabled stochastic opacity in Render setup tab? Because I cannot think of anything else that may be causing this to not work. Can you record a video of the steps you are doing? As you can see from my recording it works as expected on my end with 2.6.1 .

                              Best regards,
                              Alexander
