  • Is Mesh Select modifier (3dsmax) supported in Chaos Vantage

    Hi, quick question.

as the subject stated: Is Mesh Select + uvw map modifier supported in Chaos Vantage?

i usually put one material in an object then use mesh select modifier and then use uvw map to orient the materials, and repeat if I need to do different orientations. will this work with vantage?

    Hi it_admin3,

Yes, Mesh select modifier in conjunction with UV modifiers work properly in Vantage.

        Hi it_admin3,

Can you send us the scene so we can investigate? In my setup everything works as expected:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hN8...usp=drive_link

Hi, the problem is with your material, and in particular VRayTriplanarTex, which I think cancels the Modifier UVW Map.
But I'll let the Chaos guys answer you with more precision.

              Hi it_admin3,

Thank you for the scene. What DCHA34 says it's true - when using triplanar in your material the UVs on the objects that it is being applied on are overridden. This renders the same way in V-Ray as in Vantage. In order to have different orientation you can either:
              1. remove the triplanar to use the modified UVs
              2. create a new face id for the faces you want to have different orientation
                1. duplicate the material
                2. have the triplanar of the duplicated material rotated so it fits the new orientation
                3. create a multisub material that contains the 2 triplanar materials
                4. apply the multisub to the object
              Best regards,
              Alexander

You're both right! the triplanar tex is the culprit, I removed it and now it works. thank you very much!
