  • Open scene as config only

I always assumed that only lighting, camera and render settings are merged when you click on "Open as config only"
But it seems geometry that's been imported as separate vrscene files are also added?

If I remember correctly this loads all the changes described in the .vantage file and it just skips loading the root scene. These changes should include appended Cosmos assets or vrscene files.

If you drag and drop a vrscene file onto your current scene you would get asked (depending on your choice in Preferences) whether to import everything or just parts, e.g. only lights. This choice should be saved in the .vantage file from what I see, so when you "load as config" it should apply the same filtering. If it does not it's probably a bug.

Yes, would have been nice to have the option to choose what elements to load when you "open as config"
I typically want to bring in cameras, scene states and render settings - not necessarily geometry.

        Hi philip_nel,

We already have the ability to filter what to import using the "Open Scene as Config only " option in our system under LAV-1243. We will let you know when it is implemented.

        Best regards,

I noticed that when you save your scene while using Live Link, it only saves lights, cameras, and color corrections. But when you save your scene directly from Vantage standalone and later open it as "config only," it also brings in the geometry—if there’s a linked .vrscene file present.

That’s exactly why I never save my scenes when working in standalone; I prefer to avoid having the geometry come in unexpectedly when loading as config only.
