Thank you for the latest update! So happy to see the support for using video files as bitmap textures . Supported codecs are H.264, H.265, AV1, VP8, VP9. But I couldn't find how to implement after checking both 3ds Max and Vantage. Can someone give a hint? Thanks a lot!

video files as bitmap textures in 2.8?

For example, to plug a video into the diffuse slot of a material in Max use either a native Bitmap or a VRayBitmap and select a video file. The native bitmap doesn't seem to allow selecting newer formats like mp4 (even when the filter is set to "all files"), but VRayBitmap allows it. V-Ray won't render video files but when the scene is sent to Vantage it should work.Nikola Goranov

Thank you so much. I just tried to force the mp4 h264 video to the vray mtl diffuse channel in 3ds max, then launched Vantage, the video doesn't show up in vantage. Does this function require the latest VRay? I can't update to the latest without our IT's help, but my vantage is on 2.8.
Thank you again!

I don't think the latest V-Ray is required. Does it at least show the first frame of the video or nothing at all (assuming there is a light source to shine on this diffuse material)? If there is no image, check the Vantage debug log (Help menu) for related errors. There seems to be an issue (which we will be looking into) that prevents the video frame from updating when you scroll the timeline in max, but it works when the scene is exported to vrscene format and loaded this way in Vantage.Nikola Goranov

Thanks, just checked, it works now. But like you said, in both viewport and final rendering output, the video is stopped at the first frame, no matter whether I'm scrolling the timeline in max, or in the rendered Vantage image sequence.
Sometimes Vantage gives this error message:
17:21:21.851 [ERR] Loading 'H:\3D Files\Renders\Up.mp4' failed ! Error : unknown error !
My video for the texture is H264 mp4.
When I close Vantage and go back to my Max/VRay GPU, it gives me this error message:
[17:16:20.895] Warning : Unsupported texture 'Map Home (VRayBitmap)' (Unsupported texture format for V-Ray GPU, Standalone and Cloud rendering)
Thank you again.
