We are just supporting geometry and transform animation from V-Ray Next right now.

      Hi, Phillip.

      Thank you for your answer.

But, will Lavina support Phoenix in the near future? =)

      Best regards,
      Andrew.

I am pretty sure PhoenixFD support won't be implemented in the near future.
We have to get all the basics down first.

          Thank you.

          Best regards,

Here are our rough plans for engine features for the next few months.

            1. Improved light support - Point/Direct lights with soft shadows, Spot light, IES light, maybe Mesh light and textured rectangle light.
            2. Research performance optimizations, especially on scenes with lots of glass objects.
            3. Adaptive image sampling.
            4. Improved support for the basic V-Ray Material - metalness, glossy fresnel, fog color, anisotropy.
            5. Improved support for bump mapping - right now Lavina calculates bump its own way and results might be very different compared to V-Ray for Max/Maya, also bump can be calculated from bitmaps only, no procedural textures.
            Also normal maps support.
            6. Support for the V-Ray blend material.
            7. Support for the TriPlanar and MultiSub textures, also UDIMs.

These are the basic features I am talking about.

Of course, this plan is subject to change, as other stuff might come up as more important, and we would like your and everyone else's feedback on this.

We also might have to drop some of these new features, if it turns out they affect performance too much.

              Hi, Vladimir.

Thank you for this detailed answer.

I asked about the features because I try to understand - for what we can use Lavina- if we already have UE4 plugin. And what we should test firstly? =)

When I saw the trailer - I was very impressed and start to dream about a cool previewer for my hair and environment scenes with displacement =)

Then I opened Lavina and can't saw the hair... Then I said "OK" =) I can't use it to preview my hair materials, but I can use it to preview hair geometry =) Let's try this =) Yeah! It is working =)

Then I tried to send ForestPack scene and opacity doesn't work =) Was upset again =)

Then I tried displacement and was upset again =)

As I understand - its main niche is architectural and interior visualization, right? And this is still earlier beta and you want to improve many things and now it makes no sense to record a tutorial about it?

I try to understand all of these things because I want to record a video about this awesome revolution tool =) But every time when I test something - it is doesn't work =) And I don't know about which I can record a video to PR this product =) Or it's too early to do this? =)

Thank you and have a great weekend.

              Best regards,
              Andrew.

                It's a triangle eater.
Feed it triangles, and you'll be happy.
Feed it advanced features found only in offline renderers, and you'll be frustrated.
In other words, bake what you can, and throw tens of millions of triangles to Lavina: it won't blink.

As for PR, it's a public beta in its early stages, and ChaosGroup itself hasn't been too keen to spread the word just yet (there has been no official announcement outside of the forums.).

This is the time to get to learn the tool, and iron out bugs: instead of asking for what isn't there, and if it can come sooner rather than later, you should be testing out what is functional right now, and in case let us know how we can make it better. =)

                  Very, very well said
If it was that easy, it would have already been done
