I rendered an animation in vantage. but i am getting sparkles/fireflies on my trees. like little blinking lights. does increasing the samples fix this issue or is it something else?

Did you have denoiser activated? I've read somewhere that one should turn the denoiser to 0 in order to avoid sparkles/fireflies; I've been using this method and it has been working for me. However, I might be wrong, and there could be a better fix...

i had "keep denoiser" checked off in the sequence export. does this not do the same thing?

Yes, "keep denoiser = unchecked" should render raw and thus avoid the sparkles the denoiser causes e.g. in glass materials. There will be some grain which will reduce over time with higher sample count. However there may be other sources of raytracing fireflies, like certain materials. Could be a bug too.

        Can you post some screenshots?

it did seem to be isolated to the trees. i will check the material.

s there something specific in a material that causes this issue? if you know something, it will keep me from blindly poking at things that wont affect it.

By the way, disabling the Bloom effect (top right icon/button) will make these fireflies just pixel-sized and maybe more bearable. I know it's not a proper solution, just mentioning it FYI.

Usually leaves have a 2-sided material, which Vantage doesn't support.
                Instead, it's rendered as a single-sided material.
The fireflies you see are glossy reflections of the Sun light.
The lack of 2-sided material support could be exacerbating the issue with those.

It's also possible that we have a bug, I will make some comparisons with V-Ray.
We already have some Evermotion scenes that exhibit the problem,
but could you please also send your scene to my e-mail, in case it's something else ?

As a work-around, you could tone down the "specular" contribution of your Sun light.
This means a different setup for V-Ray and Vantage however,
and also you might have to revert this change if it turns out to be a bug or we add support for the 2-sided material.

                Greetings,
                Vladimir Nedev

since the implementation of VRAY5, I don't see the same controls for the sun as in VRAY3.7. i use the daylight system and swap sun for Vray sun, but all the settings are now gone. I am still getting used to the update. is there something I am missing, how do you control the specular contribution of the sun with VRAY5?

i wont be able to send the scene, sorry, Client will not allow.

thanks, it has all been rearranged in the daylight system. i didn't go that deep. once I see "sky parameter" drop down, I stop going further. didn't even see the options tab. thanks for pointing that out.

I got the same issue with my glass objects. I'll test again with denoiser unchecked. What's a good number of samples that gives you good quality and speed?
