  • Curtains with opacity map are displayed differently between CPU render and Chaos Vantage

    Good morning,

Chaos Vantage has been a life savior to speed up my work; however, there is one aspect that differs vastly from a render made with CPU and one in real-time with Chaos Vantage. When using opacity maps in curtains, the viewport of Chaos Vantage shows them clipped, even if the highlight burn is turned off.
Is there something that can be done to approximate the looks or is this a limitation of Chaos Vantage?

There are two major limitations for opacity maps in Vantage currently:
    1. they always work in "clip" mode, i.e. opacity can be either 0% or 100%
    2. only bitmaps can be used (so the color correction node in your shading graph will be ignored)

We can probably fix 1. at some point in the future. I can't say when exactly.

However fixing 2. would lead to a significant performance loss most likely.
Maybe we could bake the shading graph in this case to help with performance, but this leads to other issues/restrictions (not for your example though).

      Thanks for the answer.

If number 1 could be fixed it would be great, because it would allow me to precisely determine the colors of the curtains (it's essential in my work, among other things).
Number 2 is not so important to me (since color correction can be achieved with Photoshop, for example - albeit being cumbersome). Baking it would be a fine compromise.
