Are the ports the same in Vantage and 3ds Max ?
What's the "status" of the live link, i.e. what does the last row of the "Live Link" menu say ?

Note that you have to be running V-Ray 5 in order to use the live link.
V-Ray Next is incompatible and Vantage won't connect to it.
