  • Export from 3dsmax Vray Next- wrong anim keyframes

    Hello
I have a problem with exported animation from 3dsmax/Vray Next to Vantage
Vray Camera is not moving exactly like in 3dsmax.
There are some visible differences between frames rendered in the 3dsmax and in the Vantage like
-camera moved few centimeters left or right
-in places where camera should not move, in the vantage is moving slightly
-animated objects are also not moving correctly, like in the 3dsmax.
All of these are simple animations (no rigging, CAT etc.)
    What causes these problems?
Maybe when the 3d scene is exported to the vrscene, exporter itself is doing some frame interpolations or something ?
I need the animation to be identical, frame to frame like in 3dsmax

    Best
    Greg

Can you send us the scene, so we can check what's wrong ?
Did you set the same frame rate in Vantage, as in 3ds Max ?

Sorry for the delay, thanks for the scene.

I am comparing an animation rendered in Vantage and in 3ds Max.
First, I had to set the FPS to 5 in Vantage in order to match the FPS in 3ds Max. I guess you've already done this ?

I am noticing that Vantage is rendering one frame less (155 instead of 156 frames) and so the camera and object positions are very slightly mismatched.
Is that what you are seeing ? Can you send me some comparisons of the kind of mismatches you are seeing yourself ?

        Greetings,

I found something else - you have your camera's vertical tilt animated.
Vantage doesn't support animating this parameter, so it will stay at the initial value (0.105) for the duration of the whole animation.
That can also be the reason for the mismatch you are seeing.

So, I removed the animation on the vertical tilt and re-rendered the scene with Vantage and V-Ray.
The camera and object positions seem to be matching exactly.
Vantage renders one frame less, but this doesn't result in any re-timing of the animation.

Of course, I set the FPS to 5 in Vantage first so it matches the FPS in 3ds Max.
If you don't do that, Vantage will have to re-time the animation
and interpolate between the frames provided in the .vrscene which can result in mismatches.

So, after some back and forth, we were able to figure out what the issue is here.
The latest official V-Ray 4.3 for 3ds Max build from our download section (from April 9th 2020 ) has a bug which affects .vrscene animation export in some cases, which causes the issues described in the original post.
The latest stable nightly builds contain a fix for this bug. Access to the stable nightly builds can be requested by sending an e-mail to support.

We have fixed this for the build we just released (version 1.3.0 ).
Animating the vertical tilt in 3dsMax and then opening the .vrscene in Vantage will now show the animation.
