  • Vantage file doesn't keep light settings or other changes after saving and opening again

    Hi!

I am having a problem keeping lighting (Intensities ect.), other settings or even Cameras (rarely) sometimes. After working on a file and saving it, when I open it again the settings go back to the ones that the Vrscene had in first case. Also randomly after merging a vrscene on my working file, the merged file might disappear the next time I open it,
    any Ideas why these happen?

    thanks in advance,

    Yannis

Most light parameters are not (yet) saved in the vantage file. Intensity, color and enabled state however should be.
We will be working on the rest.

other settings or even Cameras (rarely) sometimes.
After changing camera parameters, you have to click the "Save (Overwrite)" button next to the camera in order to save the changes.
Are you aware of this ? It's a bit unusual.

After working on a file and saving it, when I open it again the settings go back to the ones that the Vrscene had in first case.
That's part of the reason the rest of the light parameters are not saved yet.
We have to figure out a workflow where you can choose whether you want the changes made in Vantage or the vrscene values.
That's because, at any time, you can re-export the vrscene file after making changes in your original max (or whatever) scene.

Also randomly after merging a vrscene on my working file, the merged file might disappear the next time I open it,
I guess we will need a scene that reproduces this.

    Greetings,

      Hi Vladimir,
thanks for the response, It is more clear to me now. I also realised that the problems I mentioned appeared when I started saving vantage files under different names, and locations than the vrscene file. Could that be the problem? At least for me saving the vantage file and vrscene file in the same location and with the same file name solved the problems, by the way I could not save anything from Vantage in my network drive only locally. The only one big problem was with the Sun that was switching to manual position but that is fine for now!

We have to figure out a workflow where you can choose whether you want the changes made in Vantage or the vrscene values.
that would be great if you can save changes also on the Vrscene. I also find interesting the Idea that you can have one Vrscene file and several Vantage files (connected with the same Vrscene) where you apply different moods, but then is when the problems I mentioned above start,

      Thanks again for the help,
      Regards
      Yannis
