  • 3ds max Camera not responsive in Vantage Live link

So I initiate Live link between 3Ds max and Vantage. All the changes that I make in 3ds max are automatically reflected in Vantage, except the camera. Sometimes the camera that I move in 3ds max doesn't move in vantage. If I restart Vantage and it works again.

    Hi Alokpatil,

Can you please try to render with the VFB inside of Max and see if the camera movement is reflected there? Maybe the wrong camera is exported during live link and the one that you are looking through?

    Best regards,

      Here is what I did.
      1. I tried to render in VFB (interactive rendering). Didnt show anything, pure black frame.
      2. I turned off distributed rendering and turned it on again.
      3. I started Live link, the live camera between 3ds max and vantage started working again.
      4. Reopened and Untick the distributed rendering and let 'initiate live link' button turn it on , and the camera worked.

It will be helpful if you record a video of what you are doing that leads to the camera not updating.

Yes. I already recorded a video and I have attached the file and sent a message to Alexander.

            Hi Alok,

I have examined the scene that you sent and found that you have 3 cameras and sometimes when switching between cameras it doesn't propagate that switch to Vantage. When I tried the same thing with the VFB I experienced the same behavior. I would say that this is not a Live Link Vantage issue but a 3ds Max one, because the proper camera is not being exported from Max in the first place. We will look further into it and inform you of the progress.

            Best regards,
            Alexander

Is there a way to save select only the cameras from 3ds max and import them in Vantage while vantage is Live-Link mode?

                You could try the following:
                1. Start live link and store a new camera
                2. In max switch to the next camera and if it didn't propagate correctly to vantage, stop the live link and save the scene in a .vantage file.
                3. Start a new live link session from the last camera that hasn't been sent correctly
                4. Load the .vantage file as config only - the previously saved camera should appear
                5. Switch to the [Home] Original Camera to match the camera in Max and store a new camera
                6. Continue to switch in Max cameras and repeat the process from 2-5 until all cameras in the scene are stored in the vantage file.
                7. Every time when you start a live link you should load the saved .vantage file to have all the cameras
Here is a video with the described process:
