  • Vray lights "Affect Reflections"

I have all my vray lights set to not affect reflections, but when I open the vrscene in Vantage, lights are being reflected in the scene. Is this function still not available in Vantage or did I do something wrong?

Can you tell me which version of V-Ray you are using ?
There were several changes to this option in V-Ray itself.

Can you send me the scene, preferably simplified ?
I think Vantage should match V-Ray 5 update 2.1, but there might be some case I missed.

If your material has glossiness < 1, you have to disable "affect specular", but this is true for V-Ray as well.

Looks like switching off affect specular worked. So why do we need to do that?
          Bug?

If the Vantage and V-Ray results don't match, then it's most likely a bug in Vantage, and I will need a scene to confirm and (hopefully) fix it.

If the results match, then it's most likely how these options work.
The "affect reflections" option affects only materials that have perfect mirror reflections (glossiness=1),
while the "affect specular" option affects those materials that have blurry reflections (glossiness < 1).

Note that this was changed relatively recently, as previously these two options worked based on how the light was sampled (direct vs indirect) and this was creating issues.
I am not sure, but I think this change was introduced with V-Ray 5.

Maybe you are used to the old way the options worked ?

I haven't been using vray for awhile since I switched to corona way before chaos bought them out. So a few years.

Oh, so you are converting Corona scenes to V-Ray and then rendering them only in Vantage, no V-Ray ?

I thought you were comparing how the option works in V-Ray.
I guess, in this case you have to keep remembering to turn off both "affect reflections" and "affect specular" on the light.
