Vantage is gone from MAX altogether, and you can't create your own toolbar.

The scripts are not in max

Yes, but when I go to Customize user Interface, there is no Vantage.

Use at own risk:

1) Unzip the file on your desktop

2) Save your max scene, then drop the script from your desktop into your camera view (note: creating a macro button from this script wont work, it needs to be dropped into viewport)

If all goes well, that should have you sorted for livelink at least. To stop the livelink, drop the script into your scene again (which should pause vantage)

So if something horribly went wrong, at least you saved your max file
(it's almost 4am here so its not the most elegant script, but it works in a test my side)

Very kind of you. I installed Vantage again today, so I can use it. Tomorrow I am going to see if it is there. If not, then it is surely something to do with time. Regardless, I'll give your script a try tomorrow.

Yep, gone today. So it is being removed overnight.

Out of interest, when you install software, are you running the installion files from a local drive (not a network drive), and are you running it as admin, ie right click on the installation file and from the menu choose > run as administrator (even though your user my already have admin privileges)


Did you try the script I sent Bobby?
If it works, could you let me know what other Vantage toolbar buttons you use? It should be simple to add functions for those also.
I know it doesnt solve your main issue, but it could possibly be used as a workaround until they get to the bottom of things.

Yes, a local drive as an admin. I used your script and when I launched MAX, the toolbar was there today.

V-Ray 6, and the toolbar is gone. I ran your script and it launched Vantage, but there isn't a toolbar, and I still can't create one.

I still have to install it every few times I launch MAX. I assume that more people who move to Windows 11 will have this issue.

New hard drive, new Windows 11 and MAX 2023 installed, and my Vantage is still disappearing. Now that this is no longer a free program, I demand answers (joking, of course).

Hi Bobby,

Maybe we can try one more time in a remote session and try to get more details about this case. We are actually running tests here on Windows 11 and 3ds Max 2023 very often and there are no issues with the Vantage toolbar.
You can submit a ticket where we can set-up a session time.
I don't have any other suggestions to share right now, but if someone here has any more ideas or solutions, will post them here.

We are still suspecting any plugin conflicts or max startup conflicts. Did you try the new fresh installed configuration just 3ds Max / V-Ray and Vantage? Or you have restored the working configuration with the new installation adding all additional plugins and tools?
One thing that we can try in the remote session is the Windows Sandbox with 3ds Max and Vantage installs.

I have the basics. Forest Pro, Railclone, and Sini Tools. That is about it. New hard drives, so fresh install of everything.
