Render Animation with Chaos Vantage Script

    OpenEXR with render elements

When I use max and vantage to render sequence frames, some sequence frames lose render elements, such as zdepth, adobe and Bumped Normals

This is pretty strange. So the default image layer is correct and only the elements are missing (black)? How often does this happen? Is it a random frame or the same frame each time?

Yes.The default image layer is correct and only the elements are missing. It happens randomly.Once a frame starts to be lost, the rest will be lost. But the default image layer is correct always.

For example, the 187th frame starts to be lost, and the following are all lost.

OK, thanks for the info. We will try to reproduce the issue and will write back here when there is some development.

OK,Thanks for your reply. The scene where I have this problem is relatively large, it can occupy 24G of video memory.

I seem to have found the reason. It seems that there will be no elements without noise reduction.

Did your computer crash while you were testing?

So the problem occurs when you disable the Denoiser? But how could you disable it in the middle of the sequence?

We are not aware of specific crashes related to this. If you had a crash you probably ran out of GPU memory. Have you turned off the option Edit->Preferences->"Safe GPU allocations"? If it is still on, crashes should be rare and Vantage should warn you when it doesn't have enough memory to start a render.

I have experienced movie visualization with the vantage, but I had problems with certain issues. first of all, the lack of matte shadow is very annoying, for this I had to render with extra GPU render. please provide an option specifically for surface; such as shadows pass or matte surface.

Yes,The problem occurs when I disable the Denoiser. It was because the computer crashed so I re-rendered the incomplete. This time I turned off the Denoiser. The reason for the computer crash may be because the graphics card temperature is too high, every time it happens when the sequence frame is saved. Not a software crash

Also, I found that when the denoiser is the vantage option, the bump of the material seems to get very strong.

I can confirm the render elements are not generated (and remain black) when the denoiser is turned off. We will fix the issue in the next version.

Regarding your hardware crash, try to monitor the temperatures to see if it's really this and not something else. Try to make sure your power supply can deal with such loads. I've had a similar issue due to a smaller power supply (RTX GPUs have some big peak currents).

Could you provide an example image of how the bump is different? Are you comparing to the AI denoiser or to a raw render without denoising?

Bump and denoiser mode have nothing to do, it was because I changed to other parameters. Regarding the computer crash, it was solved by using two graphics cards to render and display respectively. In addition, when the next version will be online, I am looking forward to it.
