  • Vantage Flickering - Scene with many lights

I have been using Vantage to render simple animations that have, at the most, one dome light and maybe 20 - 30 plane lights and all goes well.

I am working on a new project with 100 - 180 lights (est) and i can not get the scene to render an animation without serious flickering / massive texture artifacting. I have rendered at high resolutions (above 1080p) with 500 samples, a .008 noise threshold, and still completely unusable/

I can upload the scene, but it is a 9Gig file.

Currently using an RTX 3090 24G card.

Q - Is there a limit (especially with interiors where light bounce is a bit more consequential than in outdoor scenes) to how many lights can be in a Vantage scene before the RT engine is unable to keep artifacts / flickering at bay?

Q - any other ideas / solutions? How van I upload the 9Gb file to you, if you desire to look at the scene?

    Many Thanks,

    M

Try increasing the light tree samples. The settings is under "Advanced" in the Lights panel. The maximum value is 16. If this works well, try lower values in order to reduce render times. You should be able to use fewer camera samples when you increase light samples because it reduces noise from light sources.
