  • Cinema 4D Vray 6 beta to Vantage

    Hi!
I played around with Vantage a bit with the example file I sent you.
I dragged the transferred images into the time line, but some things don't work there either. You can't show or hide an object in Vantage if you drag 5 images into the line and then press play, the same image is always displayed, etc.?
It would be great if you could drag several images into the timeline to do a single-frame rendering.
If you want to select all materials with the same material in Vantage, it doesn't work either, you have to exchange all materials individually.
The same single image export as in Vray 5 to Vantage was great would be great if you could transfer it to Vray 6 as well
As I saw there are great Max Commands for Vantage that I would like to see in C4d as well
    1) vr.scene export button
    2) Animation rendering starting directly from Cinema 4D
    3) Frame rendering with start directly from Cinema 4D
    4) vr.scene reimport from Vantage to C4D
    5)direct export and update link
would be really great if you could add the listed things it would make our work easier for sure.
    Thanks very much!

As you know, we are aware of this, but it is not something that's easy to fix at the moment.
The specifics of the Cinema4D UV system make it hard to implement.

      Hi Mr Pock,

I dragged the transferred images into the time line, but some things don't work there either. You can't show or hide an object in Vantage if you drag 5 images into the line and then press play, the same image is always displayed, etc.?
By images do you mean camera? Is there any difference in experience between different Vantage builds or between V-Ray 5 and V-Ray 6?

It would be great if you could drag several images into the timeline to do a single-frame rendering.
If you use it like a batch rendering, Vantage already has a batch feature in the Render setup (https://docs.chaos.com/display/LAV/T...eueRenderQueue).

The same single image export as in Vray 5 to Vantage was great would be great if you could transfer it to Vray 6 as well
Can you explain what do you mean? Is this a Vantage or a V-Ray request?

As I saw there are great Max Commands for Vantage that I would like to see in C4d as well
You could also write in the C4D forum as requests as they have to implement them on their side.

      Best regards,

        Hi!
I created a test scene for you where you can see the difference between the exports from Vray 5 and Vray 6.
How are you supposed to set up a stage rendering in Vantage?
can you send me an example, frames didn't work for me at all.
        Thanks very much!

          Hi Mr Pock,

The scenes in Vantage look and behave identical between V-Ray 5 and V-Ray 6. The exports are different in number of parameters due to the newly added features in V6.
The objects that are not able to hide in Vantage is because they share the same name inside C4D. In order to manipulate them properly I would advise you to add a unique suffix to the name of the meshes inside Cinema and re-export the vrscenes.
As mentioned before the Stage object inside C4D is not supported and will not work in both Vantage and V-Ray for Cinema4D at the moment.
Here is a video that shows how to set up camera batch rendering: https://youtu.be/bT7nw4VPnxk?t=316 and https://youtu.be/o5F9Tdt7ZOk?t=494

            Hi!
OK now everything is clear to me I don't need to do a stage handover for a single image rendering.
The cameras are now imported individually into Vantage from C4D.
In the render setup of Vantage I can then add all the images with the still camera and render them as individual images, it would be great if you could swap the images in the setup.
A separate export button for vr.scenes in Cinema 4D would be great!
Starting rendering directly from Cinema 4D would be great too!
            Thank you very much!

              Hi!
I have another question, how can you save objects in Vantage that you hide or show for certain images without them being applied to all of them,
the save image with camera not only works with the save all command, but I want to show and hide objects from certain perspectives.
If I send a scene from C4D Vray 6 and have hidden the ceiling in the bird's eye view in the scene and have shown the ceiling in the perspectives, this is not transferred correctly.
Why are all the perspectives always black when opened in Vantage and are not updated? You have to click on each image manually so that it becomes visible!
              Thanks very much!

Because they need to be rendered first. The vrscene file does not contain preview images. The small preview images are saved in .vantage files.

Currently that is not possible with the latest 1.8.1 version but it is something that is in the works and will be available later this or at the start of next year.

Why are all the perspectives always black when opened in Vantage and are not updated?
This is because when you open a vrscene, Vantage has no information how the thumbnail should look like because it hasn't rendered the scene from that camera position.

                    Hello!
(Currently this isn't possible with the latest version 1.8.1, but it's something that's in the works and will be available later this year or early next year.)
It would be great if you could do something earlier, the functions are currently very limited.

And Vantage is really great I love it but unfortunately you can only use it to a limited extent with C4D, as I have seen there are already so many things in 3DS Max as far as exporting to Vantage is concerned, why not for C4D too?
A live link vr.scene export like in 3DS Max would be great!

And why are the camera settings for the images from C4D Vray 6 not exported correctly when creating a vr.scene and hidden objects I sent you a test scene, so you see the problem?
C4D Vr.scene export was much better in Vray5, because you could hide and show objects.
Now under C4D Vray 6 can neither show or hide objects from c4D and transfer them via vr.scene export.
In Vantage it is also not possible, as you told me, to show and hide objects by image.
So if I have e.g. 15 images to render and want to show and hide objects, I have to edit image by image individually and then render image by image, that's not a workflow at all?
I ask you to change something as soon as possible that I need Vantage Day for Day for my work.

                    Thanks very much!

That is a request that you have to address to the V-Ray for Cinema4D team in their forum section (https://forums.chaos.com/forum/v-ray...ma-4d-wishlist) for them to implement and I am sure that they will be happy to inform you of the progress there. They are currently very busy with the release of V-Ray 6 for Cinema4D and maybe some progress will be made after the official release but they will have to confirm how high of a priority it is.
And why are the camera settings for the images from C4D Vray 6 not exported correctly when creating a vr.scene and hidden objects
Object animation visibility, as you have it set up in the c4d file you sent, is exported and works correctly just the camera view sequences are not exporting and importing correctly because they are used in a Stage object, which as mentioned before is not supported. A workaround would be to duplicate each camera and add them one by one in the animation editor with a pause element in between each other with a duration of 1fr (this way each camera would be exactly 1 frame in duration). Render that animation and each object visibility would match each camera. Here is a video: https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1VAo7...jzvFdLIGScQVl9 Hope that works for you.

In Vantage, is it possible to store objects that are shown or hidden in an image so that you can create an image sequence for rendering where certain objects are shown and hidden?

                          Hi Mr Pock,

Currently no, but it is something that we will implement in the very near future.
