  • Render out VrayDisplamnentMod with Ocean displace (PhoenixFDOceantex) in Vantage - Is it possible

    Hi

We are making a lot of animation with vessels on ocean/water and using the PhoenixFCOceanTex as the main displacement texture for animated waves. It works excellent in normal render, but as we starting to look more into Vantage to get quicker results we see that Vantage dont want to render a ocean build up like that. I also saw that Vantage dont want to animate displaced mesh in general, but that we solved by the "Render Animation with Chaos Vantage". I use HOT4Max to get the ocean waving. Still I like to be able to use the PhoenixFDOceanTex as the results is amazing. I tried the "old fashion" with export vrscene, but it didnt want to give me anything in Vantage, so I hoped for the "Render Animation with Chaos Vantage", but that didnt work either. Is it a GPU issue? Do anyone know a way to solve this?

    Hi fredrik_stre,

Currently displacement(which is happening only at render time such as the VRayDisplacementMod) is not supported in Vantage but it is something that we plan to add support for in the future. The only way to render fluid/displaced meshes is to really have that geometry visible in Max viewport so it can export as such. We would inform you when displacement support is implemented or keep an eye out in the Announcement section of the forum.

    Best regards,
    Alexander

Thank you Alexander. We look at the amazing images we get when we make ocean with the VrayDisplacementMod and basically that is the only thing we miss and that really want to be able to render out with Vantage. Looking forward to it will be implemented! Is there some tips or tutorials for making as good a possible ocean to be rendered in Vantage?
