  • Using Vantage kills normal render speeds even after it has been turned off.

I have noticed that after having used Vantage to view a scene the normal VRay renders which took minutes to render prior to using vantage now take hours if they finish at all? The render process will not progress past light cache. What is Vantage doing to the max set up, as it is totally unuseable like this?

    Hi martin_hulse,

When in Live link the following is happening:
    • Detect if you are using V-Ray 5(or later) GPU as a renderer and ask if you would like to switch to it.
    • Enables Distributed rendering(if already enabled then stores the settings and later when live link is stopped from the button in the Vantage toolbar - recovers them), adds a render server at localhost:20701 and disables the 'Use local host'
    • Start Chaos Vantage if it is not already running.
    • Send the scene to Chaos Vantage on 20701 port
No render settings are changed besides the enabling/disabling of Distributed rendering. Can you please send a sample scene for us to investigate? Also which V-Ray, 3ds Max and Chaos Vantage versions are you using?

    Best regards,
    Alexander
