  • axis problem after import

    Hi guys,

I'm working on Cinema 4D and while waiting for the "render via link" function, I'm trying to export the scene and then subsequently add moving animations, such as a fireplace flame. I'm noticing though that there is a problem with the axis as soon as I simply add the Cloth tag. I attach screenshots before and after applying the tag.
    Thank you

Can you attach a sample scene ?
This happens only with the cloth tag ?
Does it render correctly if you use V-Ray to render it ?

      HI ,

yes with vray it is rendered correctly. I attach the scene and this happens as soon as you assign a fabric tag.
I tried to align in Vantage afterwards but as the animation starts the object returns to its initial position therefore impossible to use.
      Thank you

        Hi visualtracing__,

Unfortunately I am not able to reproduce the issue with your scene. Regardless if the plane has the Cloth tag - it stays in the same place. Which V-Ray version are you using and can you send an exported .vrscene with and without cloth tag to check on our end?
Regarding "I tried to align in Vantage afterwards but as the animation starts the object returns to its initial position therefore impossible to use." this is a known issue(LAV-1246) but haven't gotten to it yet.

        Best regards,
        Alexander

          HI ,

Thanks for looking into it. I tried even now but I still get the same problem.
I attach the two vrscene files with and without tags.
I'm using the latest version of Vantage (2.1) vray for c4d 6.10.01 and Cinema 4d 2024 on windows 10.
          Thank you

            Hi Alexander.Atanasov,

by any chance have you had the opportunity to analyze my files?
I hope that the "live link rendering" function comes out soon at least there won't be these problems anymore.

            thanks

              Hey, visualtracing,

Would you be interested in trying the latest release of V-Ray for Cinema 4D? You can download it from https://download.chaos.com/?platform=70&product=47, and find more information about the release at https://forums.chaos.com/forum/v-ray...-now-available.

Please let me know if you can reproduce the issue with the latest release. I recommend caching the cloth simulation before relinking or exporting the vrscene file.

              Cheers,

                HI,
I just tried but nothing, the problem is still the same even when saving the cache.

                  Hey,

I have examined the scene file you provided, but unfortunately, I was unable to reproduce the issue. I suggest that you clear your Cinema 4D cache and, if necessary, zip it beforehand. 2/ Uninstall Vantage, and delete all settings as well, and preinstall it again. Let's try if possible.

                  Cheers,

May I know the exact steps when you say to compress the cache? then when I uninstall Vantage I don't remember a warning to delete the settings too.
                    Anyway I'll try
It's good news that it works for you

To be honest with you, it is not good news that we can not reproduce it locally. One more thing could please try with prior Vantage build 2.0 if possible.

                        Cheers,
I just tried version 2.0.1 of August 8th and the problem is the same. I also tried to export the file from Cinema 4d S26 but I get the same result.
At this point I would be curious to try one of your vrmesh files to see if it works. in this case it would mean that it is a problem with my Cinema 4d.

                            Hi visualtracing__,

Do you Open or Import the scene in Vantage? Because I think that the issue may be happening when you import instead opening the scene.

                            Best regards,

You are right! I had never actually tried it.. thanks

However, it would be useful if it also worked when importing the object because in large scenes it is better to import separate animated effects and insert them later
