  • visibility keys are not exportet

    Hi,

i have some vrmesh loaded with the Vray Proxy into Maya.

each Proxy has a keyframed visibility to show or hide.

Only the one where the Timeslider is at the export to vrscene (Workaround to get it render) is active in Vantage. The others are not there...

    Hi t_b,

How do you set the visibility animation? in my test when I keyframe the Visibility property in Vantage the proxies show accordingly:https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1c1GO...ypGWtJ_Z9rHEde
Can you send a video or the scene for us to investigate?

    Best regards,
    Alexander

      Hi Alexander,

      thanks for your help!

In your clip the timeslider is at the last Frame where all Proxies are visible, try it somewhere in the middle where one is not visible.

      Here's what i do:

1st Screenshot shows the outliner in Maya, at this Moment only the last VrayProxy ist visible. The others are set to not visible.
The numbers behind the "Fluid_" are the Frames where they are visible.

2nd shows you the Visibility Option which i keyframed. Therefore is at every Frame only the necessary one visible.

after that i export the scene as .vrscene because the livelink ist not working properly at the moment (Theres anonther thread here in the forum)

      3rd Screenshot is from Vantage:
only the Proxy where the time slider in Maya was (and therefore the Proxy is visible) at the export will be loaded to vantage (if you open "+" at Fluid_1000_1499 it will appear). The others are just empty.

      Best regards,

      Tobi

        HI Tobi,

With your exact steps I am still getting the animated visibility correctly: https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1g6Aw...PpkY3sVhuDjYyi
Maybe something different is causing the issues on your end. Can you please send us the scene for us to investigate? You can use the chaos help center form with a link to the forum thread: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new You will have to include all asset files. I will let you know when we have received and examined it.

        Best regards,

          Hi Tobi,

I received your scene and saw something - can you try to uncheck the Render animation only in batch mode in the Animation section of the render settings and export the vrscene this way?

          Best regards,
          Alexander

            Hi Alexander,
            thanks for your Help!

Unfortunately this won't work for me. I tried this also before. The time needed for that would be extremely long... More than 20 hours. (Calculated after the first 100 Frames) I think the reason here is the hughe amount of data for the .vrmesh files with over 500GB.

is there a way to do this faster?

Maybe there is a way to edit the .vrscene or .vantage file with an editor and place the files manually?

            Kind regards

            Tobi

You must have something else animated in the scene, maybe a deforming mesh with lots of triangles.
The vrmesh file contents are not included in the vrscene file (that's one of their advantages).

                The problem there is
with 'render animation in batch mode' set to off Maya will load the geometry from the vrmesh for each frame while generating the vrscene. And this needs a lot of time.
also the Maya scene is only a few kB...so there is nothing big in there.

or am I wrong at this point?
                .

This shouldn't be happening in general, unless there is some deformation maybe that's applied on the vrmesh object.
But I am not familiar how this works currently in V-Ray for Maya.

The Render animation only in batch mode option is not really the issue here.
It just decides whether you are exporting an animated vrscene or not (just the current frame).
If it's not animated, obviously no type of animation is going to work.
If it's animated, we need to figure out why the export is so slow and the vrscene file so big.
Alexander will take a look tomorrow, but we might need at least a piece of the huge vrmesh file you mentioned, maybe you can recreate only the first frames of it and send it too ?

                          Hi Tobi,

Yes, we have received your files. We are trying to figure out how to improve the speed of the export because as you said ``The problem there is with 'render animation in batch mode' set to off Maya will load the geometry from the vrmesh for each frame while generating the vrscene. And this needs a lot of time.`` but are unsuccessful for now. The issues has been given to the V-Ray for Maya team to investigate and we will let you know when there is some development.

                          Best regards,

                            Hi Tobi,

                            A few additional questions:
                            1. Are the vrmesh caches loaded from a local HDD or from a server? - if they are located somewhere on a server the time for loading may be increased due to a low connection speed
                            2. What preview settings do you use for the caches - Box, Preview geometry or Full mesh? - In our test the export is only very slow when set on Full mesh, with None and Box the export is quite fast.
                            Best regards,
                            Alexander
