  • Black objects with higher resolution

    Hi, a question that I probably know the answer to.

    When rendering higher resolutions of (in this case) a 360-panorama, several objects renders black. Is this merely a GPU-memoryproblem or am I missing something?

    It seems that some textures failed to load. Check the log in Help->Debug log. You could set the filter to show only warnings and errors to find them faster.

      This is indeed a GPU memmory problem. The only way to adress this is disable the denoiser. Denoising uses a lot of GPU memmory.

        Ah, ok - thank you! I noticed that when I continued my tests but didn't know denoiser was that big of a memorythief. So one solution is simply to lower the noisevalues and render without denoiser?

          Try closing any other applications, especially 3D applications, browsers and other modern apps like messaging apps that are actually browsers. All of these use some VRAM.

          If you were using the NVIDIA denoiser, try using Intel instead (or vice-versa). I don't remember if it uses less memory, but it's worth a try.

              By the way the NVIDIA denoiser is limited to 55 megapixels, but Intel should still work with higher resolutions.

                Yes, I did close all applications that were eating memory but still ended up with the above problem

                I use Intels denoiser. It uses less memory than Nvidias and I think it's more efficient.


                I am going to try and resave some of the largest bitmaps/textures to lower and power of two resolutions and see if that helps as well.

                  You can also try disabling "dynamic" textures and see if that helps.
                  If it does, we will need the scene (with all the textures) to debug what the issue is.
