Camera animation lost / red error text

I've been putting together a sequence in Vantage, spent quite a bit of time on it and had saved minutes ago when it crashed. Now when I load the file fresh all the imported 3ds max camera animation has been lost and there's this red text on all the scenes. First off is there somehow I can get the animation back? The underlying .vrayscene the cameras come from has not / was not changed. Secondly - any idea how this even happens so I can avoid it again?

update: in addition to cameras lost, all render queue settings are gone too...

oof... just had another crash importing geometry, again i've been saving along the way "just in case" and again the cameras have been lost when loading the vantage file from scratch.

the first time i thought it was just a fluke but now its 2 times in a night. open to any suggestions. is the file being constantly saved to or something?

Well turns out its a different problem altogether.

It doesn't require a crash. Anytime the vantage file is worked on / saved, the next time that file is opened cameras have been lost / eliminated.
I will note "Save camera in Vantage file" is/was enabled in preferences.
