  • VRAY crashes constantly after installing Chaos Vantage

I don't know why or how, but after installing Chaos Vantage I noticed Vray started to crash a few times - I thought maybe a problem with my scene.

But now, basic things that worked before in Vray GPU / 3ds max just cause crashes.

I have uninstalled Vantage, but crashes keep happening. Please help. I am runnign the recommended nvidia drivers.

Hi, thanks for posting. Have you changed the driver version? Have you tried to reinstall V-Ray? Try to render a new simple scene to see if this will crash. Try to run a VRayBencmark to check if your setup runs well.

Can you give us an example or these are just completely random?

Do you have any errors in your V-Ray Log? Are you running out of video memory?

Yes, the crashes seem to be random

So literally this moment the log said it couldn't allocate video memory...

Then I tried again after closing the material browser and the the log went red with errors and max just crashed.

I have a 3090 and before installing Vantage I was having zero crashes or memory issues.

If it makes any difference, now when I open the classic material browser it doesn't render the material spheres. Something weird is happening under the hood!

If Vantage is uninstalled there is no way it can affect your system. It doesn't modify other programs or the operating system. Does your problem persist after rebooting?

Yes, the problems have persisted since yesterday. They are intermittent. It know it sounds strange - but, that's the only thing I have done that is any different.

Could it have changed drivers or DLL or anything?

Update to the latest version and this will be fixed.

              - Have you tested with VRayBenchmark and if you have what are the results?
              - Are you having issues in every scene even a new simple scene?
              - Are you monitoring your GPU hardware during rendering to make sure you are not overheating or running out of memory?.
              - Have you done any other changes to your system other than installing/uninstalling Vantage?
