  • Vantage crash

Vantage is crashing upon opening a scene that I've been working on for several weeks. (Same file - nothing has changed). I also tried opening up several smaller scenes and get the same error.
I'm attaching a dropbox link to the Debug file along with error screenshot. Using dual Nvidia 2080 TI video cards. Driver version : 536.23, Vantage - latest version 2.2.1

    Any idea? thanks, Dave

Note: The only thing I've changed since last opening up the file is updating to the latest Forest pack version v8.2.5.

What happens if you press "yes" in the dialog you've shown ?

Are you sure you haven't updated Vantage as well ?
Vantage 2.2 supports displacement and will use more memory when displacement is present in the scene - you have 25 million displaced triangles in your scene according to the log.

same thing happens when I hit "yes". I updated to the latest version of vantage with displacement a while back and have been using without any problems until now.

I opened the 3DS Max file and removed all the displacement before exporting out a new ,vrscene file. Opened it up in Vantage and received the attached errors and crash. Scene is also missing a lot of textures for some reason.

All the screen-shots show that you have run out of GPU memory.
Lowering the render resolution can help with this.

You can also try disabling one of your GPUs and check if that helps.

Is it possible to send us the scene (with the vantage file if any and also textures/vrmesh files) ?
You can open a support ticket and send it through there or upload it to dropbox and send the link to my e-mail.

Scene is also missing a lot of textures for some reason.
If "safe GPU allocations" is enabled and there is not enough memory, some textures might not be uploaded to the GPU and will come out as black.

Hm, actually the "Failed to allocate buffer of size" message is shown only if "safe GPU allocations" are still on.

Can you make sure they are off and then reload the scene ?

Okay, I reinstalled the older version (2.1.1) - unchecked the Safe GPU box and it works just fine. (no warnings and no errors).

Installed newest version (2.2.1) - unchecked the Safe GPU box and it opens but has 11 warnings and 156 errors. (Mostly error loading ies lights). Is there something I need to do before exporting .vrscene to get those to load?

I'm currently using Nvidia driver 536,23 for the dual 2080 TI cards. If I install the newest 546.33 driver - will I be able to utilize the DLSS denoiser?

Thank you very much for your help - really appreciate it!

These are bogus errors - you can see it mentions an empty '' IES file name.
We've removed them for future builds (not yet released).

I believe the answer to this question is - yes.

For DLSS you need driver 537.13 or newer.

Thanks - I'll update to a newer driver.
