D3D Error for sequence AVI and MKV

I am getting a D3D error when trying to render sequences. I am using the latest Version: 2.3.0, Build: 2161034. This happens on 2 Windows 10 Pro computers, one has a RTX3080 and the other has a RTX A4000. There is no time passing from pressing the render button to the error message showing up, the error message is a Vantage message, not a system dialog.

There is no crash, Vantage keeps working without additional problem. There is no entry in the log as far as I can see. If I render the sequence as single image files, it works without problem.

Any ideas what could cause this? I googled and couldn't find anyone else with the problem.

There was a new decoder implemented. You can turn it off your preferences.

That worked. Thanks! I saw messages about the new codec before, but only read about people having problems viewing the videos they created...
