XRef Scene update causes 3Ds MAX to crash when Live Link is enabled

Our team often uses the XRef Scene (Files - Reference - XRef Scene)feature to split large projects.

When Live Link is enabled, update XRef Scene file causes 3Ds Max to crash. This happens in all version of 3Ds MAX and Vantage.

Does it crash if you use V-Ray GPU IPR instead of Vantage when you update XRef? Generally, vantage.exe is a separate process, so if 3dsmax.exe crashes it must be a Max bug or a plugin (including V-Ray) that causes that.

Just tested, under VRay GPU IPR, updating XRef Scene will not cause 3Ds MAX to crash, but Vantage Live link will

What is your V-Ray for 3dsMax version, is it the latest one ?
There was a fix for similar crashes last year, although I am not sure it covers your case.

You can use the Chaos Help form with a link to the forum thread: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new You will have to include all asset files.
