  • Vantage in ACEScg not working

Vray GPU renders in ACEScg quite well, no need to tonemapp even a very bright scene, the result seems pretty well natural and balanced.
If I try to just livelink the scene in Vantage the result is...what?! Brightness and colors are all over the place...

Am I doing something REALLY wrong?

Can you send this scene to our support or attach it here in the forum, please ?
It doesn't looks like an acesCG issue, but a different exposure for the camera.

Hello, I am attaching 4 files.
        1. Rendered with 3dsmax 2024GPU with custom ocio file and saved directly as jpeg.
        2. Rendered with 3dsmax 2024 GPU default aces settings and saved directly as jpeg.
        3. Rendered with Vantage with default 3dsmax 2024 aces settings and saved as png
        4. Rendered with Vantage with default 3dsmax 2024 aces settings and saved as exr.

ideally 1 and 2 image should match 100% with 3 and 4 image

The first 2 results are correct. the output from Vantage is questionable. If I am doing anything wrong, please let me know.

all 4 files are attached in .zip file.
        Thanks

          Hi all,

Currently Vantage doesn't support OCIO files so the output will differ than that in the VFB or in a saved image. However if you apply your ocio file to the output image(exr will keep the HDR and jpeg or png will not) from Vantage in a post processing software like Nuke for example the results should match that of V-Ray. We plan to implement OCIO support in Vantage and it should happen until the end of the year.

          Best regards,
          Alexander

you can use Highlight Compression in Vantage + lut (made in Fusion from free version of Resolve) that would take Reinhard encoded ACEScg through ACES display transform. you should be able to get 1:1 match with OCIO.
