  • Rendered amera stuttering/frame interpolation

Hello, we've been having a problem lately with rendered cameras and compositing in After Effects, the renders are weirdly stuttering.
Here is our workflow, this case in 50FPS (but in 25FPS we have the same problem):
    1. We track our footage in Syntheyes.
    2. Export it to 3DS Max
    3. Do our stuff in 3DS max and export .vrscene
    4. Import vrscene to Vantage, set FPS to 50 and render.
    5. Composite scene in AE.

But for some reason the render is choppy, like there's some interpolation going on and it's calculating a frame 2x per second.
A few months ago we tried Vantage version 2.4 on another project and we didn't have this problem there. I tried to render this project again and it still works as it should...
When i render the same scene in 3DS max, its working ok.

Can you please help us? Thanks a lot!

In the link is sample scene, mp4 with render, vrscene and 3D max file

So it works correctly in Vantage 2.4 but not in Vantage 2.5 ?

Have you tried "opening" the scene instead of "importing" it ?

Basically, when you "import" a scene, the internal FPS is left at the default of 24.
We will have a fix for this in Vantage 2.6 - the first animated vrscene that you open or import will set the internal FPS.
For now, your only option is to "open" the vrscene (this means you have to create the .vantage file from scratch).

Or you can try enabling the "frame interpolation" option.
You have it disabled in your vantage file.

Btw. I tried it with Frame interpolation as well, but it was still not working.
Any idea when 2.6 will be released?

Can't say for certain, we are still working on it.

Does this extreme stuttering happen only when you save the Vantage render as "mp4" ?
Because I can't reproduce it otherwise.
The fixes we have in Vantage 2.6 or "opening" the vrscene in Vantage 2.5.2 don't fix this mp4 issue.

My bad - it seems I have extreme stuttering only when using Windows Media Player in Windows 11 to play the mp4 file.
Playing it back in "Windows Media Player Legacy" is smooth.
