Can't seem to get Vantage to honor these settings. Tried both here and with a VRayMtlWrapper material. Tried both PNG and EXR. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, thanks for posting. The note in the docs means that you could still use the VRayWrapperMtl but the matte settings will be disregarded, only the base material will be rendered as if you are using a regular VRayMtl.
There is a feature request for matte properties support logged in our ideas portal. Here it is, please vote for it so that the project management knows it is important for users.
