  • Sky environment mode keeps resetting.

    Using corona live link.....
    Whenever i make any change to the scene in max/corona the environment keeps resetting to 'environment mode - texture'.
    I have to manually reset it to 'physical sky'? (refer to attachments)

    Is there a way to force it to stick?
    The camera lister thumbnail is saved -- ie: all the settings remain the same... but the sky dome keeps resetting.

    When using live link, the DCC app (3ds Max) is where you should be making changes to the scene. Any changes you make within Vantage can be overwritten by the host app when it exports an update. This applies to V-Ray live link too. In this case maybe Corona needlessly exports the environment settings when other parts of the scene change.

      Hi simon_finger

      There is no current way to make it stick. The recommended workflow for when using Live Link is to make all your changes inside Max and use Vantage as a VFB. The following actions can be done inside Vantage during Live Link:
      • create cameras;
      • create camera animation in the animation editor;
      • edit environment and fog;
      • add color correction effects;
      • Render:
        • snapshots;
        • HQ still image;
        • HQ sequence, when there is a camera animation created in the Vantage animation editor;
      • save .vantage file with the changes from above.
      However changes made to the camera, render resolution, environment and scattered fog inside Vantage will be reset to their values or states in Max when:
      • playing animation/scrubbing the timeline in Max
      • navigating or camera manipulating in Max
      We have it logged in our system (LAV-1247) to be able to make full changes in Vantage and override those in Max but we haven't started work on it yet and I cannot give you a time frame for it.
      If you have issues with something not updating during Live Link to Vantage please let us know.

      Best regards,
      Alexander

        I have the same problem. I like using Vantage as a VFB, but at the same time I like to test different environments in Vantage, which is very convenient.

        Can you make a small lock icon in the upper right corner of the environment tab? When the lock icon is clicked, Vantage will ignore the environment changes in 3Ds MAX.

          Thanks for the explanation. I just assumed the 'environment settings' inside vantage were independant of max/corona. Thanks.

            I've had another look npg ... adjusting 'skylight environment' (CORONA) has no effect on the vantage scene? Whether it is set to 1 or 500, it makes no difference.
            I can only adjust the intensity directly in the sky tab in vantage... however, as i mentioned the environment always resets when any change is made in corona?

              I forwarded this to a Corona developer. He confirmed there seems to be an issue with the intensity (specifically) and will look into it.
