  • Sketchup VRScene import | scatter issue - lowpoly objects

I have a problem with importing a vrscene from SketchUp to Vantage.
When using V-Ray Scatter, objects from Chaos Cosmos do not appear correctly. The Scatter creates them using low-poly models. There is no such problem when using Livelink.

How can I get rid of this problem?

The software I have is up to date as of the time of writing this post - SketchUp 2024, V-Ray 7, Vantage 2.6.2.

    Hello piotr_chruciski
This is a known issue, and it's already logged in our internal system with LAV-2060. I added your forum post to this issue, and we will let you know as soon as there is a change.
In the meantime, Live Link is the only option to see the scattered Proxy objects in Chaos Vantage.

Thank you for your response rossen.rangelov.

I would like to mention that this causes significant limitations when using Vantage for SketchUp.

      It would be great if:
      • When using LiveLink, it would be possible to save sun settings in cameras. SketchUp is unable to export sun animations to Vantage (although it is possible when rendering animations with V-Ray). This requires exporting a vrscene, but that doesn't work properly. This way, it is not possible to fully utilize Vantage's capabilities when using SketchUp.
      • When using LiveLink, it would be possible to add objects from Vantage. Specifically, I am referring to animated water. This would be very helpful in adding "life" to animations.
Creating animations was a key factor in my decision to purchase Vantage. It doesn't work very well now in integration with SketchUp.

        Hello piotr_chruciski
We understand the inconvenience this limitation is causing and want to assure you that we will work to find a solution. In the meantime, as a workaround, we suggest using Scatter in Vantage instead of the one in V-Ray for SketchUp. This should help bridge some of the functionality gaps in your current workflow.
Regarding your questions, you can find detailed answers in this forum post where my colleague, Alexander.Atanasov, has explained what can be done during the Live Link between the host application and Vantage.
Additionally, we encourage you to share your suggestions or requests in our Ideas Portal. Your feedback is invaluable in shaping future updates and improvements to our tools.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to enhance your experience.

Are there any updates on this please? Literally ran into the same issue. Always felt like using Sketchup was a handicap compared to 3ds max and this just solidifies it further lol
