  • exposure nd environment settings revert when changing the camera

I'm using C4D + Corona 13 daily (Mar 5 2025), and updated Vantage to latest 7.2.1 I have never really tested it before, but running into a huge roadblock right off the bat.
    - I have a simple scene with 2 objects, a camera, Corona Sun and Sky.
    - I start livelink
    - Exposure is blown out - no biggie: I change the exposure from "None" to "Physical" - all good!.
    - I move the sun inside C4D - the location updates in Vantage... great!
    - I move the viewport camera in C4D... Exposure in vantage now reverts to "None", and it's blown out again. WHY!?

    Another example:
    - I switch the Environment Mode from "Physical Sky" to "Solid Color"
    - any camera move in C4D now reverts the Env Mode... WHY?

I don't understand how I can even get started using this.

When using Live Link in Vantage the scene should be controlled from the host application (C4D in your case). Changes made inside Vantage can be overwritten by changes made in the native scene because the link is not bidirectional. We hide or disable a lot of the Vantage UI, but we do keep the camera unlocked because it's sometimes much more convenient to move around using the camera controls inside Vantage. However the exposure is part of the camera settings so when you change (move) the camera in C4D this also overwrites camera exposure changes you made in Vantage. You should either control the exposure from C4D or try using the post-processing exposure correction in Vantage. I am not sure why the camera also resets the environment - it is probably something specific to the Corona exporter which I'm not familiar with. It probably re-exports environment settings together with the camera. Again, try controlling the environment from C4D instead.

I', not sure this is working as intended. I can't control the physical sky intensity from within C4D. The intensity value slider has no effect. Only if I disable the Sky do I see anything update in Vantage (background turns black). I can, however, adjust the Sun intensity.
Adjusting the exposure in the Corona camera tone mapping (post-processing) tab within C4D also has no effect inside vantage, and neither do any of the exposure settings (ISO, Shutter Speed, F-stop)... seems your suggestions do not have any effect. Can someone replicate my issues? I'm baffled no one else has mentioned anything before

I've forwarded the issue to the Corona devs. Apparently exposure is handled differently in Corona - ISO, shutter speed, etc. are post-processing parameters and not render parameters like in V-Ray.

Regarding the physical sky intensity in Corona not affecting Vantage - it is a bug, we already have it fixed internally, so the fix should be included in the next daily build for Corona 13.

As for the exposure, unfortunately export of post processing / tone mapping from Corona into Vantage is not supported yet, but it is something we are looking into and have already in our internal feature request list. It might take some time as the post processing in Corona and Vantage are quite different, but we will try to look into supporting at least basic operators like exposure with more priority.
