  • Object ID Mask

    Hi,

I'm having issues with Object ID render layer where they seem to be random after a restart or after changing things in my scene.
I'm using it to isolate parts of my scene on AfterEffects, but after new renders i have to select the new color each time. Is there a work around?
Also would be great to have WireColor in so it behave the same as 3ds max Vray.

    Thank you

    Hi marieanne_malkicduongmarieanne_mal,

If there are changes in the scene then different colors on each start are somewhat expected as they are assigned at scene load. For consistency I would suggest you use the Multimatte workflow where you set your Object and Material IDs in Max and also the Multimatte render elements. This way ID assigmnets will be constant and color isolation will be much easier because the multimatte render element works stores the masks in the R, G and B channels which means you will get pure red, green and blue colors.
For the WireColor I would suggest to log your idea in the Chaos Vantage Idea portal (http://chaos.com/ideas/vantage) where other users can vote on suggested ideas (one idea per requested feature as it will be easier for tracking and voting) and see statuses (Pending, Accepted, Planned, Released, Declined) on ideas. Additionally users will be notified on status change and added comments.

    Best regards,
    Alexander

Our "Object Mask" doesn't use explicit Object ID values, this is why it's not called "Object ID". It is pretty similar to Render ID in V-Ray: https://docs.chaos.com/display/VMAX/VRayRenderID
