  • Direct3D ERROR

    Hi,

I have an issue with a new hardware, I've installed a RTX 5090 on top of my RTX 4090, and since i selected both cards in my devices selection in Vantage, it won't run.
Tried latest nvidia drivers 576.40 and run back to 572.83 as it used to work before.
For context i had 2x 4090 before and was fine until i replaced one.
Is there a config file on disk that i can edit to remove the 5090 just so I avoid having to physically remove it so it runs?

    Thank you

The device list is stored in the vantage.ini file in %appdata%/Chaos/Vantage

You can delete it to reset all preferences to their defaults or just open it in an editor and modify the [Devices] section.

Thanks, I also found another way in Managed 3D settings, and only use the 4090 on Vantage.exe CUDA - GPUs

You can also use a custom shortcut. First, find the index of the device you want to use, either from the debug log or by running "vantage.exe -dl" in a console. Then create a shortcut for Vantage and edit the command from "vantage.exe" to "vantage.exe -d N" where N is the index of the device.

I don't know what causes the incompatibility and I don't have a machine with 50xx+40xx to test on. But here's a wild guess: what does the GPU-Z program show for the two cards (you can select the card at the bottom of the window) in the Advanced->PCIe Resizable BAR section? Is it enabled for both? You could post two screenshots.

Actually I was able to reproduce the error with a single 5090 (and a special Vantage build). It looks like a driver bug (even with latest 576 driver). I'm reporting it to NVIDIA.

Thanks npg sorry I haven't replied earlier. I have installed back my 2x 4090 as I needed a bit more render power. Please let me know when it's fixed
              Thank you
