  • Huge scenes Camera animation problem

I want to thanks for Vantage development team again, this program is a great solution for speedy pre visualizations,

But this is the biggest problem that I have observed.

For example, there is 300 frame animation and 5 camera animation in 3dsmax, normally this scene 1,2 Gb but
when I start to send to animation sequence It done 50 gb.

if we would be great when I send only camera animations different layer in vantage,

what is this for we can do movement cars and people animations in vray GPU for compositing.

The second biggest problem is that it doesn't pick up deformed objects, but I hope this will solve it in the future.

    Best Regards

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. What is usually 1.2 GBs but then 50 GBs ? Is it the .max vs .vrscene file or the rendered images ?
If it's the .vrscene file, this is most likely caused by some deforming object that gets exported for each frame.

if we would be great when I send only camera animations different layer in vantage,
You can export only the camera to .vrscene and then merge it in an already opened scene in Vantage as far as I know.

It will be the animated geometry that increases the size of the .vrscene, though only PRS transforms, not deforming, (unless that is now supported and I missed the update post) unless it is LiveLinked

There is a trick for rendering deforming geometry though....it may not work in all circumstances but if you slow Max's playback speed to the lowest, a quarter,
then you can render the Vantage scene whilst livelinked.
If it doesn not quite work then you can lengthen the Max animation, effectively slowing down everything, then repeat that process until Vantage can clean
the frames quickly enough to process the animation

there is no deformed object in the scene, only camera movement, yes if I current animation range aprox 300 frame .vrsecene file did 50 Gb, but your suggestion for the solution above is nice, I'll try to do it

Maybe there is some object that's not really deforming, but internally appears to be, so it gets exported for each frame.
Otherwise, I can't imagine how the .vrscene could get this big.
If you send us the scene (.max file) (my-email is in my signature), we can investigate what's going on.

              Here are some possible steps:
              1. Export your scene with animation disabled
              2. Select the camera, open .vrscene exporter, check "Export selection only" and "Export animation" to export the .vrscene with only the animated camera in it.

              4. In Vantage preferences make sure Dropped scenes -> Ask is selected.

Thank you very much, you are a great, I didn't know that this way files could merge in vantage.

No problem, though it's not my idea. Credit goes to the guy featured in this Chaos webinar - from 34:37 you can find some more details on this. It's a very good video in total, so I'd advise watching it all

I tried this, it works but has some issues:

1.Sequence render option is not active when livelink is open.

2.I can use for this : Record Viewport to Video File but when i use this there is no alpha channel and quality is very low.

conclusion: this method ideal for the only preview, If you open livelink sequence render it would be great.

                          Hi bacaran,

We have this issue (render sequence from within vantage while in live link) logged and is in our To Do list. We will keep you informed when there is some development.

                          Best regards,

Glossy refraction is also in our list but not sure when it will be available because it will impact performance quite a bit. Will keep you informed when there is some development there as well .
