  • Reflection and Bump

It would be great if Vantage would support the complete standard material of Vray 5, the reflection and the bump channel are also not yet optimal, it would be great if you could improve that. But otherwise Vantage is really great !!!!

    Hello Mr. Pock,

We are planning on improving the support for bump but can you be more specific on what support you lack for reflection?

    Best regards,

The reflection of the surfaces in Vray is much better than in Vantage.
The transparency for materials would be great for now.
Coat and Sheen and Opacity all materials that a standard material from Vray 5 contains.
I would also need the Vray Clipper for Cinema 4D to Vantage,
I've been rendering pretty aklles in Vantage lately, it's just super fast!

      Thanks very much!

Can you show us with some screen-shots and preferably an example simple scene ?
The reflection calculation itself should be pretty much the same in Vantage and V-Ray, it's maybe something else that causes the issue.

          Hello

I have a rendering with C4D Vray 5 made, a rendering with live link in Vantage made where the colors don't match at all? Why aren't the renderings the same in terms of color? Then I did a rendering with Vantage and adapted LUT.
As you can see, according to the C4D Vray 5 rendering and Vantage rendering, the images are not the same according to the same reflection and bump settings?
UVW mapping with bump does the scaling not work either?
I have a picture with C4D Material Reflektion and a picture with Vantage with this Material made. I have no reflection?

          Thanks very much!

            Hi Mr Pock,

The bump is wrong in Vantage probably because the UVW mapping is not implemented for it yet as mentioned in the above posts. I see a difference in the reflection glossiness(or looks like it) which may be caused by the bump. For the color difference in the room I am not sure what is he case. The HDR in the background is flipped in Vantage (which is a known issue) and maybe that causes this. Can you send the scene to investigate it further?

            Best regards,
            Alexander

Vantage to C4D Vray 5 adjust
I have Lut in VFB saved then applied in Vantage the setting is wrong, why? I have to use the VFB and Vantage at the same time and try it out until the setting is right, why can't it be easier?

A Lut Settimg as a template to save in Vantage would be great

Which setting are you talking about ?
I am not sure the LUT saved from the VFB can represent all corrections that the VFB can do.
Try setting this option to "Linear" when loading a LUT saved from the V-Ray VFB.

If I transfer a plan via Live link from C4D Vray 5 to Vantage and then perform the rendering with the same settings in C4D and Vantage, the results are not the same.
Then the whole thing has to be done with the LUT settings in the VFB and save the setting.
I then load it into Vantage Load LUT file. Every time I start Vantage, I have to load my LUT file. I would like to save my settings as a default so that I don't have to reload it again and again.

                          Hi Mr Pock,

I have examined the scene and the differences in reflection and lighting between V-Ray and Vantage is caused by the bump mapping. To minimize the difference you could increase the GI bounces to 4 (instead of the default 2) in the Render tab. We will investigate further how the bump can be improved.

                          Best regards,
