Dear Vantage team,
Here I will mention few things that I find crucial for archviz workflow:
1.one click bw render mask of selection and copy to clipboard. This way Vantage will be lifted to pro tool for high end images, cuase masks is a must when you want to postprocess an image
2. keep aspect ratio on render queeu as it does when you save cam in vantage.
3. save the render queeu with vantage. With these two implimentations the workflow will be perfect , cause you open max live link you set up your scene, then you explore scene in vantage , compose your cameras with aspect ratio different for each camera and then every time geometry of the project is updated you just batch render the cameras ore animations, that you have set up in the queu without the need to define for each rendering the aspect ratio of each camera.
4. Vantage turns out to be the perfect tool to match camera , meaning when you have an existing photo ad you want to merge your architecture. what is missing is a slider or button that make everything slightly transparent in the scene so that you can match your scene to the background image. maybe this you can add into overlay material option, so that you can apply transparency the way you apply clay material to the whole scene.
5.vertex color support. vr painting and animation is since long now a reality and with vr software like quill you can generate beautiful animated allembic files that you can redner with vantage live link, keeping vertex color will help a lot in the aesthetics of the whole thing.
6.support for shadow catcher , so that we can use vantage for camera matched videos, to blend real footage with rendered stuff.
7.displacement, vray fur, volumetric fog and decals and render elements I guess is already on your list and you are working on these topics, I just wanted to add how important these will be.
8.vray clipper support.
9.support enscape materials and proxies from enscape asset library. In architectural offices is very common that team works in rhino using enscape and archviz we continue the teams work in vray or vantage, It would be great if all work done with enscape could be transferred to vantage.
10. live collaboration of rhino and max simultaneously in vantage and being able to save this common scene in vantage. This way there can be an optimal workflow between design teams and archviz.
11.more post production options in vantage, like filmic tonemap, curves, contrast....
12. mp4 format for 360 videos. and maybe export as vr 360 video so that you can upload straight to youtube and have a functional 360 video.
13.real time texture baking. Now with the advence of real time ray tracing a whole new toolset has arrived to the hands of archviz artist : animated movies. vr still images, vr sequences. There is still missing the possibility to fast generate a baked textured model and upload it to sketchfab so that you can use it for AR on smartphone , tablet or hololens... I believe all the power to fast render the unwrapped textures almost real time is here, what is still missing is maybe vantage or Chaos to build one click button unwrapping (or purchase a plugin app that already does this like flatiron) and give the possiblity to export the baked 3d model as obj or fbx... then this baked model we can use multiple ways from browser., sketchfab , hololens, oculus quest.....
14.This one is a more general idea that came to me while working all this time with Vantage real time workflows. Vantage has elevated entourage workflows of archviz into a total new level. right now is extremely intuitive to dress a basic architectural scene with all elements and as a result focus only on the creative overall image of the project and not on technicalities. this is one use for vantage. when working as a designer though i have tested real time modeling in 3ds max using smart extrude and live link to Vantage and this is something different from the point of view of designing architecture. It is literally like building a physical model in no time, in a very intuitive and playful manner. this way to design is revolutionary in my opinion. It blurs the lines between physical and digital... so here comes my suggestion. One even more intuitive way to creatively sketch as an architect is through vr painting like oculus, smoothstep Quill app for oculus rift, quest. It would be amazing to have a live link with such an app so that you can real time perceive 3d drawings and animations with photorealist light simulation. This will create a total new experience to architects to acknoledge our sketches as built objects. That would be the fastest bridge between the initial idea of an architect and its testing as if it was built or constructed.
