    Dear Chaos,

    First of all, awesome updates in the past few versions!

    I have some ideas which I think would be very useful when working with Vantage:
    - adding support for setting Camera Type in vantageAnimParams script (for example Spherical, or Spherical Panorama)
    - support for VrayDistanceTex
    - support for VrayDecal
    - exposure compatibility with 3ds Max Environment and Effects: Vray Exposure Control (rendering a Perspective View with no created camera)
    - exposure compatibility for built-in 3ds Max PhysicalCamera (this is just a minor thing but would be helpful in some cases)
    - to be able to call Vantage's "Open Scene As Config Only..." from vantageAnimParams script (e.g. to be able to set Fog Distance or Color Corrections per camera setup)

    Do you think some of these could be implemented?

    Thank you for the feedback. We have those requests logged in our system but cannot say when they will be implemented. We will inform you when there is some development.

        Alexander.Atanasov Thanks for the reply! I'm happy to hear that these are on the list!

        One more came to my mind, but I'm sure you already have it on the list, too:
        - support of animated VRay proxies. Alembic is a good alternative, but it would be good to have the Loop, Pingpong, etc. fetatures of VRay Proxy.

          Yes, we are currently working on the implementation of deformable/animated vrmeshes, alembic and meshes in general. Cannot give you an exact estimate when it will be released but it is coming

          We have Corona support request logged in or system but it is not a priority for us at the moment. We will let you know when it is implemented.

            Hello,

            As an archviz community there are a few important features we would like to have in vantage immediately.

            1. Full working Vrayblend material.
            2. Vray mesh light. - regular vray light material and self illumination doesn't give desired effect.
            3. Full support for Vray2sided material.
            4. Include/Exclude feature in lights.
            5. Render elements (most imp feature) - cryptomate, Mat id, wire color, Render id, specular, reflection, refraction,
            6. Support for saving .vrimage file.
            7. Support forall map type in bump.
            8. Support for vray frame buffer like compositing feature, lens flare, white bal, etc.
            9. Full support for roughness channel in vray material.
            10. Resize texture support to save on memory if required.

            Others on the forum can add.
            Hope to see these soon in future vantage versions.

              How many layers do you usually work with and what is the minimum number that would be sufficient to do your work? Because with too many layers the performance will drop significantly.

              3. Full support for Vray2sided material.
              What features do you lack from the 2sided material? Please note that Multiply by front diffuse is currently not supported in V-Ray GPU and we cannot add support for it.

              6. Support for saving .vrimage file.
              Could you please explain how do you use and would require vrimage file output from Vantage?

              8. Support for vray frame buffer like compositing feature, lens flare, white bal, etc.
              With the latest 1.8.0 and 1.8.1 we added many of the color correction effects and White balance can be controlled from inside the camera. Why would you need it from 2 places?

              9. Full support for roughness channel in vray material.
              Do you mean the Roughness parameter under the Diffuse?(https://docs.chaos.com/download/atta...yMtl_Basic.png) How often do you use it in your projects and what are you using it for?

              10. Resize texture support to save on memory if required.
              With the 1.8.0 we added Dynamic textures option in the Render tab under Advanced rollout(enabled by default) which does exactly this. From our tests memory consumption for textures can be halved(scene dependent)

                How many layers do you usually work with and what is the minimum number that would be sufficient to do your work? Because with too many layers the performance will drop significantly.
                We want to work with online libraries which at least have 3 layers. This will make the material look as intended by the model maker. The renders are really good with cpu and gpu, but not with vantage as it doesn't support all layers.
                May be there is an option to control number of layers based on your individual preferences (as per hardware)

                Mostly for curtains, as we have seen quality of sheer curtain and translucent lamp shade material lacs severely if used 2 sided material with vantage.

                May be when Render elements are supported this file can be useful to save them, with all other vantage setting in one file.

                Frame buffer seems a better option for doing a lot of other things as seen with cpu and gpu, composition features can be added later. FB is an extremely handy tool for artists.

                I feel with the introduction of roughness parameter, we see a lot of hard surface non glossy materials having better results with this option. Some of the PBR textures now include roughness map. Glossiness is used now for metals mostly as per my guess.

                  1. the usual blend material that you use.
                  2. the 2-sided material which Vantage doesn't render correctly.
                  3. the roughness that doesn't work in Vantage.

                  The dynamic textures do exactly this, so you don't have to guess and fine tune it manually.
