  • Camera resolution from max

    Hello,

Maybe i am missing something there, but when i export my scene to vantage, there are some weird interactions i have to do. Using 3ds Max 2023 and last Vantage version.

    1. I would like Vantage to import the custom resolution i have set up in 3ds Max. For exemple 1280x960, and NOT 720p. It's kinda annoying having to manually unlock the resolution, and then enter the 960 height i want.
    2. If you change the resolution in vantage for one camera, and you switch to another camera, it goes right back to 720p.....
    3. This second problem can be tricked by going back to max, reexport after making the change in vantage. Only then it keeps the custom resolution you have made previously, on every cameras.
    4. Finally the "high quality render" should also take the same resolution set in 3ds Max (or the one set in Vantage viewport at least)

If that's not clear, i would like the cameras in vantage to get the resolution from the vray cameras set in 3ds Max

Thanks in advance (and great software overall by the way)

    Hi guillaume_feugueur1,

    1. I would like Vantage to import the custom resolution i have set up in 3ds Max. For exemple 1280x960, and NOT 720p. It's kinda annoying having to manually unlock the resolution, and then enter the 960 height i want.
Currently resolutions set in Max are not imported in Vantage, the Camera resolution defaults to 1280x720.

    2. If you change the resolution in vantage for one camera, and you switch to another camera, it goes right back to 720p.....
After you set the resolution you have to overwrite the camera(using the Save/Overwrite button next to the camera thumbnail) so the changes you made can be recalled.

    3. This second problem can be tricked by going back to max, reexport after making the change in vantage. Only then it keeps the custom resolution you have made previously, on every cameras.
Camera settings are kept between sessions and this is intentional. If Vantage has been closed and opened again it will default to 1280x720 as mentioned above.

We have all of your requests logged in our system but are not implemented yet. We will let you know when some or all are available in upcoming releases.

    Best regards,
    Alexander

Fort the part 3, what i meant was if i change the resolution on one camera in vantage, go back to 3DS Max, and reexport to vantage, it has kept the resolution set in Vantage, wich is good, but the resolution also spreads to other cameras. It doesnt spread if i dont go back in 3DS Max to reexport.

For the rest, well i will have to deal with it and wait for improvments.
