    When coming VR for Vantage?

  • #2
Is there no roadmap as far as VR is concerned when will it come and which glasses will be supported?

      Hi Mr Pock,

There is no roadmap so far when VR will be introduced to Vantage as currently we cannot guarantee the minimum FPS needed for adequate VR experience as it is very scene and hardware dependent. When we have that(a lot of optimizations and research has to be made) then we can say when VR will be possible. We will post when there is something new.

      Best regards,
      Alexander

+1, There is a demand to verify the depth of a product before actually constructing a building or 3D printing it.

Is it difficult to display a simple side by side stereoscopic view?

Viewing a static image is something we could implement. In fact, it should be doable even now by just requiring the extra step of loading the stereo image rendered by Vantage in an external VR app for the respective goggles. So if we add it to Vantage it would be just a minor convenience improvement (in my view). Therefore this is not a priority now.

What Alex said is in regard to live realtime VR - this is doubtful due to the very high performance requirements and widely varying scene complexity.

Yes, Head tracking, motion tracking, scene interaction, etc. might be a separate job from the Chaos Vantage renderer job.

That might be faster to do via Unreal with Live Link with V-Ray Unreal.

A simple Side by Side view implementation is a small request from me.
