  • Rhino feature wishlist

Hi, I'm new to this board so apologies if these topics have been covered before. I currently use Rhino and Vray and have been trialing Vantage for a few days now, I think the program is awesome overall, and can definitely see us using it in the studio. A few features I've noticed below that could make the program our go-to render engine.
    • Materials with Multiple bump/normal maps set to different UV Channels. Eg padded fabrics, with stitch details
    • Bump and normal map intensity
    • Displacement maps
    • Support for V-ray Mesh Lights
    • Import Grasshopper object and light animations
    • Rhino named views to load into vrscene
    Many thanks

Is it possible to send us some simple example scenes that use these features ?
This will make it easier for us to implement them to your needs.

    Bump and normal map intensity
Normal map intensity is supposed to match V-Ray. Can you send us a scene where the results are different ?

Hi Vladamir. Files attached with a fabric material with diffuse map, bump, and stitching. Also the Grasshopper file with a simple object animation that would be great to import into Vantage.

After posting about the bump strength I realised I was mistaken and it was only the bump strength texture map that was not supported.

Screenshot of Materials, Vray render, and rhino scene. Note the sphere is a grasshopper object

Vantage Render, lost bump, stitching, and mesh light.

Hm, I am not seeing any attached files.
You might have to zip them before attaching them.
You can also send them to my e-mail.

              Hello, Richard,
              Thank you for your suggestions!

The V-Ray for SketchUp and Rhino teams will look into a way to support export of multiple cameras via .vrscene / live link.
The solution we are discussing will include only basic camera parameters.
DoF, exposure and others will not be serialized as that would require a V-Ray (not native host app) camera/scene manager which we currently do not have (but would like to develop at some point).

              Kind regards,
              Peter
