  • four important wishes for archviz workflow

    Dear Vantage team
I would like to contribute four very crucial things that would help a lot in archviz vantage 3ds max workflow
    1. basic ability to uvw map textures of a material in object, either as a property of the material or as a tool when you select the object. adding to this basic manipulation of material properties, refection, glosiness, refraction. this way it will be possible to bring a vrscene from rhino and edit it in vantage. This will avoid
huge amount of work, which includes importing rhino to 3ds max , edit materials and texturing in max, and export to vantage.
2.in the same workflow, of manipulating vrscenes that come from different software, (rhino for instance) can you please contact autodesk, or make a script that will make vrscenes possible to manipulate inside 3ds max. This will save a tone of work,
    3. now that anima 4d people is part of Chaos can you please make it so that when you drag and drop an animated anima 4d vrscene, that we are able to move and place it where we want in the scene. now it comes locked to the place where it is exported from 3ds max.

In general very often we need to surpass the live link render animation from 3ds max to vantage, cause it renders much slower, compared to if we export animated elements as vrscenes and drag and drop to vantage scene. We know that this is a problem of 3ds max , but if you manage to find a way to overcome this ( maybe in conversation with autodesk) it will be fantastic.

4.when we work in vantage , very often we save scenes in different locations, and later we move them somewhere else, as a result maps folder path or vrscenes folder paths may get lost and vantage cannot any longer load these files, unless we manually find them and put everythign in the same folder location.
CAn you please create a relink tool inside vantage that will understand subfolders as well ,that automatically finds missing files. something like relink bitmaps amazing plugin for 3ds max
    5. this one is a minor request. can you make it possible to be able to select a default folder where vantage saves all screenshots. now all screenshots are saved at the folder where the vantage file is located.

Thank you very much in advance

    Hi, thanks for posting.

1- basic ability to uvw map textures of a material in object - we logged this one under LAV-1629

4- please create a relink tool inside vantage - this one is already logged under LAV-1503. I will add your thread to it and raise the priority.

5- a default folder where vantage saves all screenshots - we logged this one under LAV-1630

We will have to discuss further points 2 and 3. We will keep you posted.

Update on point 3 - the issue with anima 4d scenes is related to an issue that we already registered and logged for fixing.
Currently transform changes(translate, rotate, scale) are not applied and get reset to animated geometries from imported vrscenes
This is logged under LAV-1246. I will add your thread to it and raise the priority.

Is there a roadmap for Vantage?
All issues that are brought to our attention on the forum, the ticketing system and all other channels are described, test scenes are added and logged in our internal bug tracking system.
The product management works with the developers to review and fix issues.
There is a roadmap. All your posts, opinions and input are taken into consideration and reflected in the product's development.
