  • License won't activate

I just purchased vray next and want to use it with vray blender build. The license server says I have online license, but it isn't active and not working for blender (blank render and resolution limited). License server VRLService is running (restarted service several times). How do I activate the license that is available. I tried deactivating online and signing in again, downloaded blender build twice and vray stand alone twice (I'm on bandwith limit so not cheap). Win 64 OS, exporter revision v3.2155 [1f454ea]. When I enable add on in Blender it says that V-Ray cloud binary is not detected on your system, but it does detect V-Ray.exe.

    Hello,

Please uncheck the box "Detect V-Ray". Afterwards you will get an option to specify the path to the V-Ray Next Standalone binary (vray.exe). Then please try to render with V-Ray in Blender.

If you get an error please send us a screenshot from it to support@chaosgroup.com in order to investigate further.

I got it to render, but license won't activate and my replys to support emails are getting no response. I have two support tickets open after first one all of a sudden just quit responding and second one has yet to respond I did only open second ticket yesterday though. Very frustrated need this issue resolved by July 9, I took a week off of my regular job to work on a paid project.

        Hi mikegem,

V-Ray for Blender only needs a Blender/VRay build and a V-Ray Standalone installed and the standalone needs to obtain a license from the license server.
I'm assuming that you're already running the latest version of the license server (5.1.1) judging from the pds you attached.
If you can open the License Server interface and you can see your V-Ray Next Render Node license (that's what V-Ray Standalone requires), and Blender has detected vray.exe (or you have manually specified where the vray.exe is), then you should be good to go after also specifying V-Ray as the renderer in Blender.

I do not wish to add to your frustration, so help me in clearing up what the problem actually is, so that we can understand it and solve it, for which I thank you in advance for your patience.
If you have done what I've described above, then there's something else that's wrong.

I am a bit confused as to how blender/vray is rendering but the license is not activated, that's the part I actually don't understand.
After installing the license server, the only thing that's needed is to open up its interface, enable online licensing and log in with your Chaos Group account (the same one that's used to download the V-Ray builds).
I'm also assuming that the license you've purchased is one that works with online licensing (and not a dongle license). It would be appreciated if you can confirm that for me.

Are you able to render at all with V-Ray in Blender?
Do you have more than one V-Ray Standalone instances installed on your machine?
Are there any errors/warnings that you get, especially licensing ones? You should be able to see those when you enable the console display from Window > Toggle System Console.

I won't be able to get in front of Blender until tomorrow morning in our time zone (UTC+3), but if you can provide me with a bit more details, I'll make sure to get back to you first thing tomorrow and hopefully resolve the issue asap.

Remote session with support (Nikolay great help} led to the answer about license and resolution cap, but I still can't get exporter options under render tab render>system>exporter drop down is blank. Thank You for quick response and offer of help much appreciated. If you have any ideas about exporter options would also be greatly appreciated.

Can you check if there are any errors in the system console? You can see the console window from Window > Toggle system console.
