  • Transferring licences

    Hello,

Unfortunately, our entire graphics department has been made redundant, and so I've asked for the V-Ray 3.6 for Maya licences that will no longer be used to be given out to our 3 3D artists...

How could we go about doing this?

You have to install V-Ray -
and to point the license settings of your 3D guys towards the license server machine - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...cense+Settings

Thank you for the reply, Ivan.

As the whole team is being made redundant, I don't think there will be a licence server machine (nor anyone to look after it). Is it possible to permanently transfer a licence to each team member?

If the infrastructure is still in the company this shouldn't be related to left team members or a whole team for that matter. Your licenses are associated either with a hardware dongle or with a ChaosGroup username. There should be a computer that server as a license server machine for the users and redistributed the licenses. Alternatively - if they were just a few people - the might have personal dongles or a license server installed on each machine and activated with the company account? In either case - you can use the license carrier for the 3D team.

We've got licences associated with a ChaosGroup username (that's got one V-Ray for Maya 3.0 licence, and 11 render nodes), and then each team member (3 accounts) have got a licence that I think have been transferred online. We've only got a few licences, which were originally dongle based (we've still got the dongles).

Just wondered if the 'transfer of licence form' would be used here? As per this thread... https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...y-vray-licence

It'll be best to message us with details at sales@chaosgroup.com about that.
