  • installing online licenses on small renderfarm

Hi all, I just migrated from dongle to online licenses (correct migration) for my small in-house renderfarm (1 workstation + 5 rendernodes). When using the dongle version I installed the license server only on the workstation and all the other nodes connected to it with ip address + port number.
Now, do I have to install the license server on all the machines? I tried to not install it and only input the login name+password during installation, but it seems not to work.
Which option do I have to choose during installation? The "Local vray license server on this machine" option or the "Remote vray license server on the network" ? (In my case only the first seems to work...).
    And for PhoenixFD ?
Thank you to all who can help

The easiest way would be to keep the previous license configuration. A license server instance obtains licenses from their carrier and redistributes them to the client computers. Whether the carrier is a dongle, or an online account does not matter in this case.

No, you can keep the old configuration. Installing on each machine will also work, but seems unnecessary complicated in your environment,

You need to adjust the license settings to point to the machine with a working license server - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...cense+Settings

"Local" - if there's a license server installation on each machine. "Remote" - if there's a central license server installation, e.g. your workstation.
