We had an intermittent issue for around 20 minutes earlier today; it is resolved now.

        Best regards,

Cannot get License server to work, it was fine yesterday, I've updated Vray next this morning with the latest stable build and updated the license server, tried several times and is not working.

          Thanks guys.

// Error: Could not obtain an interface license (-200): The ChaosGroup License Server could not be reached.

Still not able to render anything for production today, any advice from support?

            Try to

            1. Uninstall Chaos license server from Control Panel.
            2. Delete "C:\Program Files\Common Files\ChaosGroup\ssl" folder
            3. Reinstall the license server - https://download.chaosgroup.com/down...dalone-523-adv
            4. Navigate in your browser to http://localhost:30304
            5. Log in with your username - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...tup-Activation

Sorry guys but I'm still on a Dongle and scratching my head wondering whether to do the switch to online licencing.

Maybe I'm living in a different universe, but I can't get my head around offering a professional service to my clients whilst there can always be some issue with an online License Server going down, even intermittently (how would we know that without a crystal ball) for 20 minutes.

                  Someone convince me I'm wrong.

I am completely with you! I dont like the idea either, that my company depends on:
                    - chaos groups server runinig
                    - chaos groups internet provide has no issues
                    - my internet provider has no issues

these are too many things in my eyes. would appriciate, if they keep the dongle alive!

Maybe this has been discussed before, but wouldn't it be possible to have the same system as Adobe where you can you use their software for up to 99 days (or 30 days for monthly subs) offline before it needs to reconnect to the online license server ?
Actually even a much shorter grace period of a few days would be enough to get around the annoyance of short license server interruptions.

                        +1 that all day.

In fact, why not allow you to carry on working, with maybe a notification message (Windows 10) advising you that you need to get to an Internet connection within x-days before the software stops functioning.

I'm sure with a bit of thought the perfect solution could be put in place so we can use our paid for software any time, uninterrupted ?

Exactly. the adobe system is a good compromise in my eyes. I think a periode of 14 days for example would be more than enough.

Thank you for your opinion on the Online licensing. You are right that the Online licensing depends on too may factors like internet, servers e.t.c., that is why we have the option to switch your online based license to offline based.
You can borrow your license for a period of 14 days, and even make it to auto-renew itself every 14 days, as long as you are connected to internet.
More information regarding offline licensing can be found in the below link:
                            https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...or+Offline+Use

We are working on optimizing in the near future, the licensing process with an e-mail notification of the expiring licenses and also the borrowed for offline licenses too.

Yes, but what happens if you're just working at the office, not anticipating to go anywhere, just to work on a project, and the Licence Server goes down ?

Can you borrow or switch to anything at at that point ?

Are you able to keep working ?

My guess is that you'll have to come on here and ask a question about the servers, or contact support.

How does that work in a commercial environment ?

I am still on a dongle and the situations you have mentioned, regarding borrowing a licence for two weeks works (from the sounds of it) are when you are anticipating, and preparing, for a future scenario.

I'm asking about what if / when you're just working as normal, and minding your own business and out of the blue, the License Server goes down.
